Domestic Violence-More than a Private Affair-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(22 minutes) This program encourages law enforcement officers to evaluate their attitudes and responses to domestic violence calls. Two officers dramatize step by step tactics for effectively answering a domestic violence call. The program emphasizes the importance of ensuring the safety of the officers, the victim, children, other witnesses, and even the suspect. T1.002

(58 minutes) A former veteran street cop provides highly-touted training for officers dealing with issues of domestic violence response. Invaluable information and lessons for departments wanting to lower domestic violence are included. T1.004

Domestic Violence -NO HOURS AWARDED
(75 minutes) This program addresses many areas of domestic violence, including: 1) Devastating Impact of Domestic Violence, 2) History of Domestic Violence as a Crime, 3) Why Do They Stay?, 4) Positive Law Enforcement Response, 5) Interviewing Techniques, 6) Effecting the Arrest, and 7) Report Writing and Evidence Collection. Video is an excellent addition to the mandatory TCLEOSE distance learning curriculum on Family Violence.T1.005

Law Enforcement and the Mentally Disordered --TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(16 minutes) This program explains the signs and symptoms to look for when assessing a situation that involves someone who appears to have a mental disorder. The proper guidelines to follow are discussed and demonstrated. Officers are instructed to remember that their safety can be enhanced by focusing on de-escalating tensions. T1.006

Tactical Communication Skills-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(29 minutes) This program presents five scenarios designed to enhance an officer's communication skills. They include how to personalize an encounter, acknowledge a victim's emotions, provide options to defuse a situation, handle explosive situations and develop an ability to express feelings in order to relieve stress. T 1.007

Alabama Officer Assault/Body Language, Part 1-TCLEOSE credit: up to 2 hours from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(42 minutes) An Alabama officer is severely beaten after a subject attacks him during a nighttime traffic stop. The assault occurs as the officer attempts to handcuff and arrest the individual for d.u.i. The incident is analyzed and critiqued from top to bottom including in-depth interviews with the officer and his back-up. It includes an excellent tutorial on subjects' body language which will help all officers identify potential danger signs. T1.008

Verbal Judo/Body Language Part 2-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty Series"
(38 minutes) It's called "martial arts for the mouth" and is yet another weapon in the street officer's arsenal. George Thompson has a national reputation for teaching officers how to communicate with subjects in a manner which will maximize compliance, and minimize risk. This video also includes a tutorial on recognizing potentially dangerous body language. T1.009 2.

2.General Law Enforcement Safety

Officer Safety-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(18 minutes) Many officers are injured or killed each year because they deviate from basic safety tactics. Safety procedures are dramatized in this program including the need to develop emergency plans, take silent alarm calls seriously, practice quick and effective baton moves, keep the advantage during traffic stops, and maintain a proper attitude. The consequences of not following the procedures are also shown. T2.001

Officer Safety: Correctional Officer Training-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(12 minutes) Familiarity breeds carelessness, and in correction work, even a little carelessness can be fatal. Questions in this program are designed to prompt a thoughtful analysis of how to avoid being a victim. T2.003

Vest Saves Deputy's Life-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(35 minutes) Dramatic documentation of a Georgia sheriff's deputy who was shot twice at point-blank range but was saved thanks to his body armor. Complete, in-depth interview with the deputy provides invaluable officer safety and survival tips. T2.004

Law Enforcement and the News Media-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" video series
(36 minutes) This program provides a comprehensive look at the St. Petersburg (FL) Police Department's handling of national news media following two major rioting incidents. It includes strategies used by the Department when it was suddenly barraged with the media's quest for information and answers. T2.005

Hostage-Taker Interview and Pepper Mace Demonstration-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(30 minutes) In-depth jailhouse interview with a mentally-disturbed Safeway store hostage-taker. Also part of this video is a segment showing how the St. Louis County (MO) Training Academy incorporates a pepper mace demonstration as part of its regular training program. T2.006

Officers Assaulted/Water Safety/Denver Fugitive Apprehension Program-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(35 minutes) This program evaluates two incidents in which officers were assaulted; one by a knife-wielding inmate; the other by an inebriated subject during a DUI/Sobriety test (both incidents were recorded by the Corpus Christi Police Department). This program also provides water safety tips and techniques for officers who can and cannot swim. Additionally, this video also includes a look at an innovative fugitive apprehension program used by police in Denver, CO. T2.007

Contact and Cover-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(38 minutes) The San Diego PD's 'Contact and Cover' program, developed after two of its officers were shot and killed, is analyzed. Also, the Collinsville (IL) PD provides dramatic video and analysis of an incident in which contact and cover was not used to its fullest leading to near disaster. This program also features another segment from Jim Crotty, of Strategies for Officer Survival. He gives in-depth lessons on how to conduct a high-risk felony stopT2.008

Report Writing-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(20 minutes) This video is not an ABC's of report writing, but a detailed guide to assist officers in the consistent writing of clear, accurate investigative or inquiry reports. Using realistic dramatization, an officer recounts the essential steps of an arrest, which will allow the judge and jury to reach an objective conclusion based on all the facts. T2.011

Responding to Africanized Honeybee Emergencies-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(12 minutes) As the Africanized bees spread, attacks on humans will become more frequent, and safety personnel will be responsible for responding to bee attacks or to reports of hives perceived as threats to public safety. This program shows safety personnel exactly how to handle a call that involves a bee problemT2.014

Through the Eyes of a Child: Reducing the Trauma of Child Removal-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(22 minutes) Removing a child from his parents and home is very serious. Evidence indicates that children experience extreme trauma during removal, which affects their lives forever. Viewers will gain insight into how the experience might feel to the child and how best to approach the removal in a manner that is least traumatic for the child and his family. T2.015

Officer Survival and Enforcement: Occupant Protection Issues-TCLEOSE credit: 2 hrs.
(90 minutes) Educating officers regarding the benefits of occupant protection systems has proven to increase officer safety belt use and the enforcement of occupant protection laws. Having a better understanding of the issue has made many officers advocates in promoting seat belt and child safety seat use in their communities. This has resulted in a reduction in crash-related deaths and injuries and a significant increase in seat belt use rates across the nation. This program captures the technical information on video and guides the users through a series of discussion questions and exercises producing both an innovative and practical "viewer active" training format. This program contains one training video and an instructor's guide. Kit T36

3. Drugs/Alcohol
One On One-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) Produced by law enforcement officials, this video teaches police, fire, public safety and security personnel law how to handle individuals under the influence of PCP. Through an officer's dramatic confrontation with a PCP - using prisoner, it illustrates the signs that warn of PCP use. T3.001

D.U.I Analysis-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
( 34 minutes) D.U.I. arrests are analyzed for safety, procedure, tactics and technique. This video deals with both drivers under the influence of alcohol and drivers under the influence of drugs. T3.002 4.

4. Jail/Inmate Procedures
With a Little Luck Surviving A Hostage Situation-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(36 minutes) In this dramatic new video, a young police officer is taken hostage by an inmate. Faced with a life-threatening situation, he recalls and successfully applies the "do's" and "don'ts" he learned in training. Tactics, which can significantly increase a hostage's chances of survival, are presented in flashbacks, then reinforced as the officer puts them into practice. T4.001

Fire in the Jail-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) This realistic dramatization illustrates basic fire fighting skills and procedures with special attention given to the importance of well-defined plans of action and open lines of communication. T4.002

Confrontational Avoidance-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(20 minutes) This video demonstrates to prison staff the correct procedures for resolving confrontations with inmates who have lost control. T4.003

Religious and Cultural Diversity in the B.O.P.-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(16 minutes) This video explains how BOP is working to ensure its system is sensitive to the specialized language, dietary, and religious needs of inmates. T4.004

Working With the Female Offender-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(22 minutes) This program discusses the following factors: family, medical issues and abuse and how they affect the management of the female offender. Employing techniques outlined in the program will make the work experiences of correctional staff more successful and less stressful. It will also make a positive impact on the inmates with which staff members come in contact, enabling the offenders to return to society determined to be productive citizens, instead of criminals. Chicago-Based Gangs in Correctional Facilities-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(27 minutes) This important training program takes a look at the history of Chicago-based gangs, lists the names of their offshoots, discusses the tattoos, handsigns and symbols that are used as identifiers and for communication purposes and explores the mentality and philosophy of leaders and members. T4.006

Con Games Inmates Play-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(22 minutes) This film shows the games inmates play to manipulate correctional officers. Effective techniques of supervision are shown and their specific effects on control are discussed. T4.007

Interpersonal Communications-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(25 minutes) Set in a custody environment, this program demonstrates how an officer's mannerisms and body language can affect the outcome of a situation. Viewers learn specific communications techniques that will make them more effective on the job. Contains language some may find offensiveT4.008

Fire Extinguisher Training: Using the P.A.S.S. Technique-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) This program explains basic fire safety as well as the different classes of fire and which extinguishers to use for each. The P.A.S.S. (Pull-Aim-Squeeze-Sweep) technique is demonstrated as well as how to approach each kind of fire and how to install and maintain the extinguishers. T4.009

Correctional Emergency Response Team Training: Cell Extraction-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(8 minutes) This program details the complex entry procedure that a Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) uses to move an irate prisoner from one cell to another without physical injury to either the inmate or themselves. T4.010

Interior Security Procedures-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(18 minutes) This program outlines interior inspection procedures for a corrections facility. Inspection procedures covered in the program include: conducting regular and complete bar taps, checking windows, function of locks, keys, cell block mechanisms, etc. T4.011 5.

5. Analysis of Officers Killed

Handling Prisoners: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(18 minutes) Through re-creation of actual events, this program uses FBI statistics to document the principal causes of officers killed while handling prisoners. The conditions and circumstances that allowed suspects to successfully attack and kill officers are shown, as are attitudes that may have contributed to officers' deaths. T5.001

Suspicious Person Calls: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(17 minutes) This program examines cases in which law enforcement officers were killed while investigating suspicious person/circumstances calls. T5.002

Off Duty: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(17 minutes) This program re-creates actual cases in which off duty officers were killed because they intervened in criminal events; were killed because they were identified as officers; killed because they were working as security officers; or killed by suspects who were revenge motivated. T5.003

Robbery in Progress: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(14 minutes) This program discusses officers who were killed responding either to armed robberies in progress or to situations involving armed robbery suspects. T5.004

Man with Gun Calls: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(14 minutes) This program recreates actual cases where officers were killed answering "Man with Gun" calls. The circumstances that allowed suspects to kill officers are illustrated, as are factors on both sides that may have contributed to officers' death. T5.005

Burglaries in Progress: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) This program recreates actual cases where officers were killed answering burglary-in-progress calls. T5.006

(13 minutes) This program examines cases in which officers were killed while investigating domestic disputes. T5.007

Traffic Stops: An Analysis of Officers Killed-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(13 minutes) This program re-enacts actual incidents, and provides details that will enable officers to identify what they're already doing correctly and more critically, it will help them recognize mistakes that could be deadly. T5.008

Trooper Coates Shooting-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" video series
(32 minutes) A veteran trooper is killed along a South Carolina highway, despite the fact that he shoots and hits the suspect five times at center mass with his .357 service revolver. This video is a detailed study of the shooting death of South Carolina State Trooper Mark Coates, including summarizations by Trooper Coates' back-up officers. T5.009

Coates Killer Interview-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" video series

(34 minutes) Richard Blackburn, the convicted killer of South Carolina State Trooper Mark Coates, is interviewed for the first time. Learn from Blackburn's personal insights as to his motivation and state of mind during this tragic incidentT5.010

6. Disease Control/Health

AIDS: On-the-Job Protective Measures-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) This program details equipment and techniques that should be used by officers during on-the-job calls where there is a risk of exposure to AIDS. The program depicts ten high-risk situations and offers prevention solutions for each. T6.001

Silent War 1- Infection Control for Law Enforcement: Understanding Contagious Diseases -TCLEOSE credit: 2 hrs

(25 minutes) Part 1 is an overview of the major communicable diseases, the risks that law enforcement personnel face, officers' duty to protect themselves and others, and some of the developing legal concerns related to infection control. Also, it explains how communicable diseases are spread, followed by a summary of general precautions officers can take to protect themselves from these silent assailants. This training kit includes one video, instructor's guide, and handbook. Kit T9

Silent War 2- Infection Control for Law Enforcement: Reducing Your Risk -TCLEOSE credit: 2 hrs
(20 minutes) Part 2 reviews specific actions officers can take to balance their duty to protect and serve the public against their duty to protect themselves. Areas discussed include personal decontamination procedures to use following an exposure, infection control concerns to have upon entering a crime scene, personal protective equipment to use in specific situations, proper procedures for handling sharp objects, precautions to follow when handling a dead body, and protective equipment to use when giving first aid to a person. Also, covered is handling spitting and biting attempts during arrests, procedures for reducing the risk of needle sticks and cuts during pat-downs and vehicles searches, and steps to use when decontaminating a vehicle. Silent War 3- Infection Control for Law Enforcement: Post-Incident Procedures -TCLEOSE credit: 2 hrs

(20 minutes) Part 3 discusses precautions to take when investigating a "cold" crime scene, procedures to use when collecting evidence in order to minimize the risk of exposure to a communicable disease, and decontamination steps to follow after the evidence collection process has been completed. Also discussed are ways to guard against exposure to a communicable disease when fingerprinting and searching a prisoner, along with steps for cleaning a jail cell. In conclusion, an overview of the major legal issues relating to infection control that law enforcement agencies should address. This training kit includes one video, instructor's guide, and handbook. Kit T117.

7. Ethics
Ethics in Law Enforcement-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(19 minutes) This program functions in much the same way as a thought-provoking presentation on officer survival. It motivates individuals to plan carefully, and consider their own values and standards as well as those of their agency. T7.001 8.

8. Firearms
Range Safety-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(19 minutes) This video reinforces the firearm instructor's knowledge of range safety procedures and alerts him or her to common safety violations. Examples of common student safety violations when using semiautomatic handguns, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and special weapons such as Uzi's are provided. T8.003

Using Cover-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(16 minutes) This program is an eye-opening portrayal of the power of various guns. The demonstrations show bullets penetrating objects that will make even the most skeptical officers more conscious of their vulnerability when seeking cover. T8.004

Officer's Gun Accidentally Discharges-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(7 minutes) An officer's gun accidentally discharges almost striking a subject who has been arrested, handcuffed, and placed on the ground.This program features gun safety tips and lessons from the LINE OF DUTY technical advisory staff. T8.005

9.Driving Safety
Emergency Lighting and Siren Audibility-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(7 minutes) This program demonstrates the relative ability of motorists to see and hear an emergency vehicle's lights and siren as cars approach an intersection from different directions, demonstrating the inherent hazards associated with the Code 3 response. T9.001

Defensive Driving Tactics-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(16 minutes) Two professional drivers demonstrate the difference between defensive driving and aggressive driving as they participate in a safe driving test through city streets and on super highways. T9.006

Vehicle Dynamics-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(16 minutes) This video explains the basic principles of physics and how they pertain to the dynamics of operating an automobile, including discussions of the effects of acceleration, deceleration, inertia, kinetic energy, static energy, and centrifugal force. T9.009 10.

10. Vehicle Stops
Felony Vehicle Stops-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(30 minutes) This video demonstrates the procedures for stopping cars and vans and what to do when a suspect runs away. The video stresses that the three main concerns of an officer are to control himself, control the suspect and control the situation. T10.001

High Risk Stops-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(21 minutes) This video illustrates correct, life-protecting procedures with special emphasis on being alert for concealed weapons. Officers will also learn to maintain control by taking complete charge, taking their time, guarding against the unexpected, and varying their routine. T10.002

Routine Stops-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(18 minutes) Safe, proper procedures for conducting routine stops recommended by law enforcement agencies for law enforcement training are demonstrated. Officers learn what to do and also observe possible tactical mistakes. T10.003

Safe Stops in Traffic /Passenger-Side Approach -TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(30 minutes) Several incidents in which officers have either been injured or killed are examined. An Idaho deputy, after being nearly struck and killed by an inebriated teenage motorist, analyzes his own response. Also, Jim Crotty demonstrates excellent passenger-side approaches while making traffic stops. This program also looks at some of the innovative web sites used by law enforcement. T10.004

Idaho High-Risk Stop/Felony Stop Demonstration-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(35 minutes) This program has two important parts: 1) a follow-up to the previous program (Traffic Safety/Passenger Side Approach), in which Bonner County (ID) Deputy John Lunde is hit by a fleeing motorist. The resulting high-risk stop is studied and analyzed by Lunde and his fellow back-up officers and 2) Jim Crotty of 'Strategies for Officer Survival,' provides a demonstration of a 'textbook' felony vehicle stop with the cooperation of the Brunswick, GA PD. T10.005

Tinted Window Shooting/Tinted Windows-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(30 minutes) Two sheriff's deputies stop a car with tinted windows and are forced to resort to lethal force. Once the subject is stopped the deputies must shoot out the vehicle's tires as it rolls down the highway toward traffic. Excellent analysis and lessons provided by both deputies, who happen to be brothers. Also, Jim Crotty joins the Orange County (FL) Sheriff's Department in demonstrating the best methods of approaching vehicles with tinted windows, both day and night. T10.006

Kehoe Brothers Shoot-Out (OH)/Concealment and Cover Tutorial -TCLEOSE credit: up to 2 hours from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(47 minutes) The complete training documentation dealing with the dramatic shoot-out in Ohio between law enforcement and the Kehoe brothers, known para-military extremists. This program includes in-depth training interviews with both officers involvedT10.007

Hood River Multi-Speed Chase-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour from the "In the Line of Duty" series
(30 minutes) When a subject steals a truck and large boat, law enforcement officials in Hood River, Oregon swing into action. They are faced with a pursuit that covers all the bases: High speed, low speed, hard surface, and off-road. Also, learn how critical body armor is after a St. Louis County (MO) officer is struck directly in the chest by a bullet. T10.008

11. Search and Seizure
Male Pat Search/Female Pat Search--- TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(14 minutes) This two-part video shows the correct procedures for conducting a systemic, thorough, and professional pat search for weapons and contraband. Part one covers the male pat search, and part two covers pat searches for females. T11.002

Clothed Person Searches--- TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(21 minutes) This program describes why, in which situations and exactly how to properly conduct searches of clothed inmates, and defines contra-band-the elimination of which is the object of the search. Also covered are visitor and staff search procedures and the importance of professionalism and consistency. At the end of the program, the viewer will have the opportunity to observe and critique a clothed search. T11.004

Unclothed Person Searches-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(25 minutes) This program describes the circumstances under which an unclothed search is warranted, exactly how to conduct this type of search on both male and female inmates, defines contraband and describes the importance of professionalism and consistency during each search. At the end of the program, viewers will have the opportunity to observe and critiques an unclothed search. T11.005

Cell Search Procedures-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(15 minutes) Illustrated in this program is the general cell search procedures that can be adapted to the variety of housing situations in correctional facilities. Areas covered include when and how to conduct the search, how contraband is defined and what to do when it is discovered, and the importance of being consistent and professional during each and every cell search. T11.006

Vehicles, Area and Building Searches-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(12 minutes) This video defines when and how to conduct searches of vehicles, areas and buildings, which inmates come in contact with. Search procedures are outlined step by step, the definition and handling of contraband is discussed, as well as the need to secure visitor areas and parking lots. T11.007

12. Dispatcher
Dispatcher: Lifeline to the Community-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour

(24 minutes) This video trains both entry-level and experienced dispatchers to respond quickly, calmly and professionally to a variety of situations, from the commonplace complaint call to complex emergencies. T12.001

13. Restraints
Proper Use of Restraints-TCLEOSE credit: 1 hour
(10 minutes) This video describes how to properly use different types of restraints - handcuffs, belly chain, leg irons, and black box. It discusses how precautions are tightened depending on the custody level and security risk of each inmate. T13.001
