Course Description
Both the Spring and the Fall judicial education sessions are designed to provide a broad judicial education curriculum. Each session offers a broad view of the judicial responsibilities of Constitutional county judges ranging from pre-trial procedures to ethics concerns through innovations in handling DWI cases.
Objectives
Judges who successfully complete this program will have an increased knowledge of judicial ethics, search and seizure issues, sentencing options, hearsay, pre-trial procedures, probate hearings, mental health problems, juvenile detention hearings, innovation in dealing with DWI cases, and developing county leadership

Track I: The Pharmacology of Addiction - Alcohol & Drugs and the Courtroom
Track II: Juvenile Issues, a look at the Family Code
Track I: Evidence in a DWI case, how credible
Track II: Progressive Sanctions Guidelines
Reimbursement
This program is partially funded by a Judicial and Court Personnel Training Fund Grant administered by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Judges may be reimbursed for attendance at ONE Texas Judicial Academy session (Spring or Fall session, computer class, special video production class) or Texas Probate College session per fiscal year. This reimbursement will cover grant allowable transportation, meals and lodging.
