August 16-18, 2006
Renaissance Hotel
9721 Arboretum Boulevard
Austin, Texas 78759
Presented by the Texas Association of Counties
Educational Co-Sponsor: Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin
Property appraisal caps and county revenue caps will be hot campaign topics and continuing headaches for Texas counties in this election cycle. Politically skewed information on these issues could have an unwarranted negative impact on county government and your individual office. The tough legislative sessions that Texas counties experienced in 2005 may be just previews of 2006 and 2007. The Annual Conference will cover post-legislative issues from special sessions that may be called this spring and pre-legislative issues in anticipation of the regular legislative session beginning January, 2007. Every county official needs to attend this event to learn how caps can affect his or her specific office.
Last Minute Golf Tournment
We were able to get the Riverside Golf course for Tuesday, August 15, 10:00 a.m. for a shotgun start tournament at the TAC annual conference. It should give you time to drive in that morning and join us for a fun filled event prior to the conference the next day. The tournament fee is only $40.00 and it includes lunch. Tournament fees will be collected at the course. If you have any questions, StevChalender and Mark Warren are our tournament directors. To register click here and proceed to step #3.
