April 11-27, 2006

Presented by the Texas Association of Counties

Educational Co-Sponsor: Correctional Management Institute of Texas, Sam Houston State University

Manage your Worker Compensation programs using new state mandated "Return to Work" strategies.

Overview

Workers Compensation reform in the last legislative session focused primarily on disbanding the Texas Workers Compensation Commission (TWCC) in favor of placing regulatory oversight with the Texas Department of Insurance. A major issue will be the implementation of employers providing successful return to work opportunities for their employees.

This workshop will detail what is necessary to implement such programs and to provide sample program information to people at management and supervisory levels who are directly involved in these return to work strategies for injured workers.

These regional workshops are geared to help Texas counties meet the challenges and requirements of the changes to the Texas workers compensation system.

Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Design and implement "Return to Work" programs that meet state requirements.
  • Identify the various lines of communication regarding claims and safety management processes and provide accurate and pertinent information to the the stakeholders involved.
  • Implement effective solutions and methods to control workers compensation costs using "Return to Work" programs, claims monitoring, and processes to prevent losses.
  • Differentiate previous workers compensation healthcare delivery to requirements from new, optional medical provider networks.

Who Should Attend?

Elected Officials, Department Heads, Loss Control Coordinators, Workers Compensation Coordinators and personnel responsible for handling workers compensation administrations.

Registration Information

These workshops are free to all county employees and have limited seating. Please register at least one week before your intended workshop begins.
