Course Description
If you are responsible for the investment of public funds, you need to be at the 2006 Texas Public Funds Investment Conference. Experts from across the nation will be on hand to cover such topics as disclosure requirements, comparison of investment yields, internal controls and buying/selling securities. Registration starts at 7:30 Thursday, and from then until 5:00 you will learn enough to fulfill all your PFIA CE requirements for the year. Then you can relax at the evening reception, from 5:00 to 7:00. Friday’s education sessions begin at 8:30 and end at noon.
Cut-off date for registration is November 1, register by October 23 and receive early registration fee. This educational program will not be duplicated anywhere this year, so register now.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the conference, participants can:
- Comply with the statutory continuing education requirements as outlined in the Public Funds Investment Act;
- Recognize investment options allowed under the Public Funds Investment Act;
- Utilize strategies to improve yield while maintaining safety of principal and availability of cash to meet entity’s needs;
- Understand how to compare yield measurements for different investments;
- Use cash management tools and laddering strategies to earn yield but have liquidity when you need it.
Concurrent Tracks
Both advanced and basic tracks will be available, attendees may attend any session of interest.
