In Depth Look at Employment Issues

Course Description
If you manage even one employee, this one-day course will help you in the day-to-day management of those employees. You will learn what all supervisors need to know regarding several topics including: how to manage the legal aspects of the Family and Medical Leave Act, what Employment-At-Will really means, what discrimination means, what is required under the USERRA regulation which deals with military leave protection, and how the Fail Labor Standards Act applies to all types of employees.
You will practice conflict management skills for handling all your staff. By learning these skills, you will decrease financial and personal liability, enhance your professionalism and lower your stress levels. This course will give you practical solutions for managing your employees.
Objectives
After completing this course, participants will:
- Understand the Family Medical Leave Act, including intermittent leave, medical certifications, definition of serious health issues and when to determine if employees need leave
- Understand Employment-At-Will and what it really means
- Understand how to avoid wrongful terminations
- Understand what military leave protection (USERRA) requires of all employers and how to bring returning vets back to work
- Understand Fair Labor Standards Act, including, overtime pay exceptions, law enforcement 207(k) exemptions and how to properly calculate employee pay
- Use the skills practiced during interactive exercise dealing with problem solving and conflict management
