Thank you for your interest in CSI: Texas - County Solutions to Injuries. Online registration is no longer available. Registration will be available on-site.

Course Description

Targeted at the manager and supervisor level, and specifically designed for our law enforcement injury risks, this workshop provides modern systematic management techniques and methods to assess risks in the workplace and deal with them.  These workshops are designed to recognize that law enforcement personnel face intentional injury threats in addition to accidental occurrences of most workers.  A major focus of the workshop will be finding the root causes of injury creating circumstance and facilitate fresh new approaches and ideas for dealing with risk.

Objectives

Upon  completion of this class the participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the financial, operations and moral ramifications of officer injury,
  • Define and differentiate unsafe acts versus unsafe conditions,
  • Differentiate between proactive and reactive management activities to manage injury risks,
  • Recognize various management options for addressing risk,
  • Identify and address basic psychological drivers for officer  behaviors that unnecessarily put them “at risk”,
  • Understand and convey positive messages from management to officers that will support injury prevention objectives,
  • Differentiate between single cause and multiple cause approaches to injuries.
  • Develop incident review systems that identify and address issues that could prevent unnecessarily risky situations or behaviors.
  • Use systematic management tools in efforts to reduce unnecessary risk.  These tools include “job hazard analysis” and “root cause analysis” techniques.

Who Should Attend?

Law Enforcement Agency Heads, Managers and Supervisors, Loss Control Coordinators, Elected Officials, Department Heads, Workers’ Compensation Coordinators

These workshops are FREE to all county officials and staff.
