2008 TAC Annual Conference

Working Together to Get Things Done
Join us in Austin for the Annual Conference which will focus on the partnership between state and county government. TAC’s Annual Conference provides a forum for county officials from all parts of the state and county offices to come together to evaluate the impact of new laws and look at critical issues facing county government in the next biennium. The 2008 conference curriculum offers a diverse educational program with continuing education credits for most county offices.

Registration and Accommodations

Conference registration is required to obtain hotel reservations at the discounted conference rate. Hotel registration information will be provided with your conference registration confirmation.

CONFERENCE FEATURES

Legislative Track. The tough legislative sessions that Texas counties experienced in 2007 may be just previews of 2008. The Annual Conference will present post-legislative issues and pre-legislative issues in anticipation of the regular legislative session beginning January 2009. Some of the hot topics include:

  • Jail overcrowding
  • Environmental and storm water regulations
  • Tax and revenue caps for counties
  • Groundwater quality
  • Eminent domain
  • Indigent health care

Pre-Conference Session. Covers the basics of how county officials can effectively work with the legislature on issues affecting their counties.

Trade Show. Vendors will feature products and technology designed with county government in mind.

Best Practices Awards. The TAC Leadership Foundation will honor outstanding Texas counties for their best and brightest innovations.

Gold Sponsors:   $5500 - $7500+
Listing in the program as a Gold Sponsor, four (4) free registrations, name on signage at sponsored events, if applicable, An 8X20 booth on the exhibit floor,   A one-year associate membership in the Texas Association of Counties with all the benefits that go with it.

Silver Sponsors:   $3500-$5499
Listing in the program as a Silver Sponsor, two (2) free registrations, name on signage at sponsored event(s) if applicable, An 8X10 booth on the exhibit floor.

Bronze Sponsors:   $1500-$3499
Listing in the program as Bronze Sponsor, one (1) free registrations, name on signage at sponsored events, if applicable, An 8X10 booth on the exhibit floor.

EXHIBITOR INFORMATION

Booth Cost and Equipment

The cost of each exhibit space is $600 ($500 for State agencies).  This fee will cover one 8’ x 10’ booth including a table, two chairs and conference admission for three representatives from your company. Admission for additional representatives is $175 each. If you need additional furnishings for your booth, you may order those through the official show decorator, Convention Decorating Services.  They will send you a packet of information closer to show dates.  Booth space will be assigned on a first pay first reserve basis, and we accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

Please complete the Vendor Space Request and Agreement forms, making sure to provide all the information requested. Return forms and exhibitor’s fee no later than July 28 to:

SPOUSE ACTIVITIES

Registration fee for spouses is $30 and provides admission to all conference programs including the Wednesday evening party and a special Thursday morning event. Check back for more details.

REIMBURSEMENT

Conference fees are fully transferable to other participants.

All refund requests must be received in writing before August 15 to receive a full refund less a $10 administrative fee.

Refund requests received after August 15 will be subject to an administrative fee equal to half the registration fee.

No refund requests will be honored after September 1, 2008.
