Course Description

Implementing an effective work site wellness program can pay a powerful role in controlling the future of your county's health care costs.

A healthy workplace culture creates an atmosphere that sparks employees' accountability, productivity, and cohesive communication among staff and community. By bringing Healthy County wellness coordinators and sponsors together, we can explore new strategies to increase participation and sustain engagement in your wellness program.

We're committed to providing you with the information, tools and resources to help your employees lead healthy lives. Please join us in February and commit to educating county employees on the wealth of wellness opportunities. We'll provide you with our comprehensive statewide wellness initiative that gives county employees the resources to lead a healthier life.

Learning Objectives
After completing this one-day course, participants will understand:

  • The importance of supporting a healthy culture in the workplace;
  • How employee health risks affect costs for employers;
  • Strategies to increase participation in work site wellness programs;
  • Methods wellness coordinators practice to maintain employee engagement in Healthy County programs; and
  • Functionality of current and future wellness initiatives.

Reimbursement
Classes are designed to minimize overnight travel. Texas Association of Counties will reimburse ONE night's stay at the Radisson Hotel in Austin at $115/night excluding taxes. We'll also reimburse up to $10 for parking. RECEIPTS FOR LODGING AND AIRFARE ARE REQUIRED.

We strive to keep travel costs to a minimum. TAC will reimburse actual travel expenses from county seat to travel destination and back to county seat. If you prefer to stay at a hotel other than the Radisson, we'll still reimburse you up to $115/night, excluding the applicable taxes. You'll be responsible for any remaining amount.
