You Are a Piece of the HR Puzzle
Exploring Employment Laws
October 25 - November 10, 2011
Presented by: the Texas Association of Counties
Educational Co-Sponsor: Correctional Management Institute of Texas, George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center, Sam Houston State University
Overview
New and amended employment laws and regulations are rapidly changing at the federal level. To keep human resources complaints and litigation in check, elected officials, department heads and supervisors need to be well-informed on the latest HR issues. This interactive workshop covers the basics of “The Triangle”—the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA) and Texas workers’ compensation laws.
Experienced presenters review employment discrimination by looking at relevant federal laws. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and health care reform have been in the news and are hot topics. TAC Health and Employee Benefits Pool (HEBP) representatives will explain how these topics relate to counties.
