Who Handles Your Workers’ Compensation Claims?

In recent years, counties across the state have experienced changes at key positions within their organizations. Some of these individuals are responsible for the initial documentation and administration of work-related injuries.

These individuals are a valuable asset to our members and the injured worker. Their knowledge on workers’ compensation insurance and familiarity with the services offered by the association are imperative for the timely delivery of benefits. Communication between all parties involved in the claims management process is also important in good claims management practices.

These workshops are intended to further develop their claims management skills, demonstrate the benefits offered by participating on the Texas Association of Counties Workers’ Compensation Coverage and to improve communication between counties, injured workers and the Association.

Objectives
After completing this program, the participants will be able to:

  1. Implement processes for key people that deal with Workers’ Compensation claims and safety programs;
  2. Identify the various lines of communication regarding claims and safety management processes and provide accurate and pertinent information to the various stakeholders involved;
  3. Network with peers in other counties to share best practices on controlling losses through safety programs, claims management and effective communication;
  4. Differentiate the various aspects of pooling and standard insurance programs;
  5. Identify and use various resources, methods and tools for controlling losses, including acceptable procedures for accident investigation; and
  6. Identify the role of human resources as a means for controlling workers’ compensation claims. Discussion will be held on the relation of both Family Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disability Act coordination with regards to managing workers’ compensation claims.

Who Should Attend?
