County Classifieds - Coming Soon

What is it? For many years, counties have asked for a way to share information and resources through classified ads. One county's surplus is an opportunity for another to get equipment and other items they need at a reasonable cost. Counties who have surplus property can posts their items in the classifieds section. Then, counties who are interested in purchasing those items can contact the seller for information and purchase.

What are its advantages? Counties may find a very limited audience when it comes to getting rid of surplus items … but these are the very items that may be needed by another county who is working under a limited budget. County classifieds may help larger counties dispose of property while at the same time help smaller counties obtain county-related equipment and other items they need at a reasonable cost.

Legality: Chapter 263.152 of The Local Government Code allows counties to circumvent the need to sell by auction if they are selling their surplus to another county.
