The 2013 Conference of the County Investment Academy brings together investment officers, economists and other experts to discuss the influences on the current economy and timely trends in investing. Financial experts and seasoned investment officers provide the most up-to-date information on legislative changes affecting county investment officers, the economy, ethics, communicating with other elected officials, and the rise and fall of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Breakouts on Tuesday offer both basic and advanced level sessions. Join us for 16 hours of timely public funds investing topics.
Attendees successfully completing this conference:
- Know the functions of an underwriter;
- Understand municipal bonds;
- Analyze factors affecting the current economy;
- Have the most up-to-date information on OPEB, or other post employment benefits;
- Understand the rise and fall of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; and
- Improve their communication skills when working with other elected officials.
This training session is open to all county officials and staff who are interested in learning more about county investment operations. Sixteen hours of continuing education is approved for County Investment Academy members. CPAs, auditors, treasurers, clerks and commissioners may also earn credit toward mandatory continuing education requirements.
County Investment Academy
The County Investment Academy provides continuing education and recognition for county staff and officials interested in learning more about county investments. Membership in the academy is acquired through completion of the Basics of County Investments course, to be offered in early 2014. Those who have previously completed CIO Level I are automatically enrolled in the Academy. Fifteen Academy hours per calendar year are required to maintain membership, with five outside hours and five carryover hours allowed per year.
