49th Annual County Judges and Commissioners’ Continuing Education Seminar. The following two MS PowerPoint presentations were shown at the conference on February 14, 2007. The last item was discussed but not presented. It shows the amount of sales tax revenue that would have been generated in 2005 had an additional quarter cent county sales tax been in place.

  • Appraisal and Revenue Caps. The potential impact of proposed appraisal and revenue caps by Julie Marks.
  • County Revenue Sources. How counties are funded in selected other states by Tim Brown.
  • Estimated Sales Taxes. This table uses the amount of sales reported by the Comptroller as subject to the state sales tax in 2005 multiplied by a proposed quarter cent tax rate to arrive at an estimate of how much sales tax counties could have collected in that year if the proposed tax had been in effect. Certain counties, although not all of them, already have the option of collecting a half cent sales tax to offset the property tax. This estimated amount would have been in addition to any sales tax actually collected in the counties for that year.
