« Legislative News Comptroller Publishes Changes to Fees and Fines
The Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) has published the official list of changes in fees and fines passed by the 81st Legislature, along with implementation dates.
In addition TAC recently emailed out a similar list of fees and fines that was compiled by the Office of Court Administration (OCA). At least one of the effective dates is different from the CPA’s list. It is recommended that officials follow the CPA’s list of dates since the Texas Register is the official publication; TAC has been informed that OCA is amending its list with the correct date. Any questions should be directed to the Comptroller’s office.
In addition, the OCA lists new laws affecting the judiciary (in addition to the fees and fines). The report, which is broken into categories and cross-referenced, may be particularly useful to county judges, district clerks, county clerks, treasurers and justices of the peace.
The Comptroller’s Texas Register listing of fines and fees will be published in booklet form in November.
