Comptroller Announces Allocation Awards for EECBG Program

The Comptroller of Public Accounts recently announced allocation awards for “non-entitlement” counties (those that did not receive a direct allocation from the federal government) for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Notice of allocation awards, ranging from $20,000 to $150,000 per county, as well as information packets regarding the program, were mailed to the 244 “non-entitlement” counties. Click here to see whether your county has received an award from the Comptroller’s Office.

The Comptroller’s notification packet contains detailed information about important deadlines and procedures counties must be aware of should they choose to accept the funding, as well as information on how counties can use the funds. Eligible uses of the funds include: building energy audits and retrofits; installation of distributed energy technologies, including combined heat and power and district heating and cooling systems; installation of energy-efficient traffic signals and street lighting; and, installation of renewable energy technologies on government buildings.

Please see the Comptroller’s most recent letter mailed to county judges in eligible counties regarding the allocation awards. Counties can contact the Office of the Comptroller at (800) 531-5441, ext. 3-7392 for additional information or technical assistance regarding the program. Counties can also visit http://www.seco.cpa.state.tx.us/arra/eecbg/index.php for program details. As always, please feel free to contact TAC’s Legislative Department at (800) 456-5974 if you have any questions or need any assistance.
