Laura Garcia -Legislative Counsel

Laura Garcia joined the Legislative Department in July 2006.

Prior to joining the Department, Laura served as an Assistant County Attorney with the Travis County Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted criminal family violence cases in county court.  Laura has also served as General Counsel for the Capitol Office of State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr.

Originally from San Benito, Texas, Laura holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science and Policy Studies from Rice University.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
