Plan Now for TAC’s 2010 Annual Conference

2010 just began, but it’s already time to plan on attending TAC’s 2010 Annual Conference, which will be held Sept. 1-3 at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin.

The conference will focus on its theme: “Tools for Tough Times: Counties Sharing Solutions.” It’s expected to have a slightly different format than previous annual conferences, with more roundtable discussions led by elected county officials and subject matter experts. Each discussion will focus on a topic that is affecting county budgets across the state, from rural to urban areas. The goal is to give officials and their staff more opportunities to share solutions and ideas for saving taxpayer dollars.

The conference will still be featuring interesting guest speakers, legislative session previews and topical experts. Attendees can look forward to hearing from Ben Philpott, a senior legislative reporter for KUT-FM, Austin’s National Public Radio affiliate. Philpott has been recognized for outstanding radio journalism by the Radio and Television News Directors Association, Public Radio News Directors Incorporated, the Houston Press Club and the Texas AP Broadcasters.
