TAC HEBP Honors Counties for
Sustained Wellness Efforts
The TAC Health and Employee Benefits Pool recently honored
its top participating members for their sustained wellness efforts and
participation on behalf of their employees.
The counties were rewarded via a matching funds incentive-based
program, in which employees who complete a health risk assessment
(HRA) or participate in the 10-week Healthy County fitness program
(named PATH) are given a $25 prize, with an equal amount awarded
to the county. The county can use the funds to help finance future
health and wellness efforts. Examples include worksite wellness programs, flu and pneumonia
shots and bio-metric screenings.
The use of wellness incentives has been successful for Texas counties and TAC. Employer
rewards totaling more than $62,000 are now available to more than 1,560 county employees
in 76 counties.
According to TAC HEBP Wellness Coordinator Carrye Hieronymus, the top counties are
not resting on their achievements.
“Counties were very excited about receiving the employer rewards funds so that they can
continue with their wellness efforts,” Hieronymus said. “Many of the counties we visited
are motivated to increase their participation next year so they can increase the amount of
matching funds they receive.”

their participation levels:
- Bastrop $1,575 (HRA-43 employees, PATH-24 employees);
