TAC's Risk Management Pool's Regional Workshops are scheduled around the state and are designed to be a small, intense and single-topic specific driven. These one-day sessions will cover the latest in risk control, human resources and law enforcement risk management solutions.

Who Should Attend?

Elected and appointed officials, decision-makers for all pools, risk managers, pool coordinators, safety and emergency management, and department managers or supervisors.

These one-day meetings are scheduled at locations near your county to allow travel to and from the meeting on the same day. No special arrangements are made for overnight accommodations.

If you do require an overnight stay, we suggest you call a hotel directly and ask for the state government rate. The rate is subject to hotel availability.

9:15-10:15 a.m. Fire Loss Control
Fire is a one of the most preventable types of losses, yet each year there are over 100,000 workplace fires resulting in more than 100 deaths. This session will discuss the most common fire risks and exposures counties face. Learn about the use of various fire prevention equipment and other preventative measures to reduce or eliminate hazards.
10:15-10:30 a.m. Break
10:30-11:30 a.m. Industry Best Practices for Natural Hazards
There are various natural perils that face our facilities throughout the year, such as wind, hail, thunderstorms and winter weather. Hear about the most common perils affecting your region and Texas. The speaker will discuss the best practices to use before, during and after an event that can mitigate both short-term and long-term affects to your facilities
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Lunch
12:30-1:30 p.m. Water Mitigation
Water leaks and intrusion are major concerns anytime there are heavy rains, and water can also create problems even when it doesn’t come from the sky. This session will discuss the problems and damages water can cause no matter the source. You will also hear about mitigation strategies to reduce exposures before and after an event.
1:30-1:45 p.m. Break
1:45-2:45 p.m. Roof Inspections
Roofs are often one of the most overlooked building features for our facilities, yet they can lead to huge costs and headaches for facilities and maintenance staff. Learn about the various types of roofing systems and the different requirements for their care and maintenance. Also learn about the importance of yearly roof checks and how to check for damage after major wind and weather events.
2:45-3 p.m. Closing

TAC staff will be on-hand to answer any follow-up questions from the day's sessions.
