Judicial Education Roundtable Meetings

This series of roundtable discussions is hosted by the county judge in each location and the Texas Association of Counties. They will consist of mental health and DWI training. These sessions will review the Mental Health Bench Book, the Texas Mental Health & Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Law Bench Book and the Texas Impaired Driving Bench Book.

There is no cost to attend these roundtables. All materials will be provided by TAC at the roundtable.

Reimbursement

This program is funded by a Texas Department of Transportation grant. Attendees will be reimbursed for attendance in accordance with grant guidelines. For more information, please contact Michele Mund at (800) 456-5974.

Day 1 Topics

  • Managing mental health in jails
  • Review of the Texas Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Law Bench Book
  • Review of TAC Mental Health Handbook
  • Review and implementation of policies and procedure to maximize options

Day 2 Topics

  • DWI, including pretrial motions and evidentiary hearings
  • Ignition interlock and other sentencing alternatives
  • Criminal prosecutions and bill reform issues
  • Legislative changes affecting county courts
