Increase your county personnel's cybersecurity knowledge and stay in compliance with House Bill 3834. Registration is open for the Texas Association of Counties' free cybersecurity course, which meets the requirements of House Bill 3834, passed by the 86th Legislature in 2019.
The law applies to every elected county official, as well as county employees who have access to a local government computer system or database. They will need to complete a class certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources by June 14, 2021, and to report compliance by June 15. Even if officials and employees took the course earlier in 2020, they will need to be reenrolled and complete the class by the deadline to satisfy the requirements for 2021.
It’s easy to sign up for TAC's course, and we encourage counties to enroll their entire staff and all their elected officials in the 45-minute online class. Submit an enrollment form and a list of your county’s personnel at www.county.org/cybersecurity.
TAC has selected its training vendor with the needs of its members in mind. The course supplies foundational knowledge on the principles of cybersecurity awareness that will be relevant to most county personnel.
