Congratulations to the 37 county officials and staff members who attended the Basics of County Investments Course, held March 9-12 in San Marcos.

Successful completion of the course, which is offered once a year, makes participants eligible for membership in TAC’s County Investment Academy. The academy provides educational programs that help county officials and staff learn how to best manage county financial assets and gives access to the County Investment Academy Community. The community is a discussion group that academy members use to efficiently get answers to questions, share insights and learn from the experiences of their peers.

The academy’s basics course includes designing an investment policy, understanding allowable investment options, managing various types of risk and computing investment yields. This introductory course has proved to be especially helpful to commissioners court members and anyone directly involved in managing portfolios.

The Basics of County Investments Course meets the educational requirements of the Texas Public Funds Investment Act. Learn more about the academy and register for upcoming training events at www.county.org/investment.
