Mr. Austin Dudley McCarty is a seasoned Government Affairs Specialist with 12 years of experience in the Texas political culture. Over this time, Austin has developed an extensive bipartisan network including state agency leadership and communication teams, legislative insiders, and elected officials on both sides of the aisle. Most recently, he served as Director of Government Affairs for two of the state’s leading trade associations, the Texas Chemical Council, and Association of Chemical Industry of Texas. He was responsible for advancing complex legislative agendas, planning and executing membership events, and managing political contributions, among a great number of other responsibilities.
Prior to joining TCC/ACIT, Austin served as a senior level staffer in the Texas Legislature, working with a variety of members during their terms. He aided in the successful crafting and passing into law several key bills on subjects ranging from the environment, higher education, public safety, tax and the economy, and so forth. Austin is one of the few Government Affairs Specialists with experience in both Republican and Democrat offices and campaigns, resulting in a unique understanding of how to communicate effectively within various political circles.
Austin also considers it one of his greatest personal honors to serve in the United States Naval Reserve. As a First Class Petty Officer and Aircrewman with Fleet Logistics and Support Squadron Five Nine (VR-59), he has been awarded numerous citations and medals for sustained superior performance of duty, resulting in multiple early promotion selections. He is also an Eagle Scout with Silver Palm award.
In 2006, Austin completed his undergraduate degree at Saint Edward's University in Austin, Texas. A strong advocate for volunteerism, Austin regularly gives his time to volunteer with animal shelters, charitable groups, and as a mentor.
