The following information is provided by the Office of Court Administration (OCA):

The Office of Court Administration is hosting a Pretrial Summit on Oct. 15 and 16 at the Texas Association of Counties Event Center in Austin. The event will bring together policy-makers, experienced pretrial practitioners, and teams from counties around the state. The event is designed to provide a focused forum in which participants can review their jurisdiction’s pretrial practices and develop strategies to improve them.

Each jurisdiction is asked to participate as a team of up to five members. Up to twenty teams will be selected to participate. Teams should include individuals who:

  1. Are familiar with their jurisdiction’s pretrial practices;
  2. Have knowledge of the quality and accessibility of information on a defendant’s criminal history; and
  3. Have an interest in participating in discussions regarding pretrial improvements in their jurisdiction. 
For example, a participating team might include a judge; the pretrial services manager; and a representative from the county attorney’s office, the sheriff’s office, and a county’s information technology office.

Please note:
  • The application deadline is 5 p.m. CT, Tuesday, Sept. 11.
  • Only one application should be submitted per jurisdiction
  • Travel, lodging and meal costs will be covered up to rates provided by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals
  • Jurisdictions will be notified by Friday, Sept. 14, if they are accepted
