County Government Day at the Capitol Celebrated

Tuesday's County Government Day celebration began in the TAC Events Center with the weekly Tuesday Morning Breakfast and an update on bills scheduled for the week.

Tuesday's County Government Day celebration began in the TAC Events Center with the weekly Tuesday Morning Breakfast and an update on bills scheduled for the week. County officials then moved to the Capitol where activities acknowledged County Government Day and featured recognition of TAC President and Hidalgo County Constable Larry Gallardo with a Resolution in the Texas House sponsored by County Affairs Chairman Garnet Coleman. Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. recognized the county delegation in the Senate Gallery.

County officials next moved to the lower level of the Capitol Extension where TAC's County Best Practices Awards Program and the Texas Counties Deliver project were featured in a display outside of the Legislative Conference Center.

For over two hours, members of the TAC Core Legislative Group served delicious Louie Mueller barbecue to approximately 800 guests, including lawmakers and their staff, as well as DPS detail and other Capitol employees. Many of the guests commented that they looked forward to the TAC event each legislative session.

TAC exhibit educated Capitol staff and visitors about the value of county government.
