More than 850 county officials and staff will gather next week, either in person in Austin or virtually from their home counties, at the Texas Association of Counties' 2021 Legislative Conference. The hybrid event — a first in conference history — will offer attendees in-depth analysis of the 87th Legislature and how its actions affect county government.
The conference starts at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1. Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune, will deliver the opening keynote address. Thursday features 10 legislative discussion sessions. Topics include the pandemic and elections, criminal justice reforms, the American Rescue Plan and Texas counties, redistricting, property tax reform and broadband expansion. The conference closes Friday with a look at some of the eligible uses for federal COVID-19 relief funds and U.S. Treasury guidelines.
We look forward to seeing you! Check out the full agenda and other conference details online, or contact Deanna Auert or Nino Miranda at (800) 456-5974.
