TAC Legislative Services staff has highlighted some recently filed bills of interest to county officials.

HB 1030 by Rep. Shaheen – Allows a county to satisfy notice requirements, provided under any other law, by posting in media with a greater circulation than the newspaper with the greatest circulation within the county and also on both the county’s and state comptroller’s websites. Before using this alternative posting method, the county must hold a public hearing and demonstrate the alternative media will be of greater circulation in the county.
 
HB 1888 by Rep. Fierro – Authorizes government bodies to conduct open and closed meetings by telephone or videoconference call.
 
SB 239 by Sen. Powell – Requires the Texas Department of State Health Services to develop a disease prevention information system for use during a disaster.
