An interview with Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont) and remarks by Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola), chairman of the Senate State Affairs Committee, headline this year's Counties at the Capitol Day. Events begin Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 8:30 a.m.

Due severe winter weather conditions statewide, this event, originally set for Feb. 16, has been postponed to Feb. 23. We are committed to serving our members and are making every effort to keep them safe.

Register today here to join TAC’s Counties at the Capitol Virtual Legislative Day on Feb. 23.

A glimpse of the agenda:

Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick sits down with Speaker Phelan to discuss issues before the 87th Texas Legislature. Branick and Phelan have worked together over the past several years to help their county withstand and overcome hurricanes, floods and a massive chemical plant explosion. Hear their version of a state and local partnership on disaster response and recovery as they discuss important county issues.

Sen. Hughes follows. As chairman of the Senate State Affairs Committee, Hughes leads the panel charged with many priority issues for Texas counties.

TAC Legislative Services consultants also will bring you up to date on the most significant issues facing county government during the 87th Texas Legislature.
