Property Tax and County Budgeting Roundtable
Following closely on the end of the 87th Texas Legislature, Loving and Ward County Auditor Ellen Friar and Tom Green County Auditor Nathan Cradduck, both past presidents of the Texas Association of County Auditors, hosted a roundtable discussion in San Angelo on June 9 to review key points of Texas property tax law administration and the county budgeting process, and to review new requirements enacted by the Legislature. County auditors and assistant auditors made up the lion’s share of the more than 40 county officials who attended the roundtable, and were joined by judges, commissioners and budget officers. TAC General Counsel Michael Pichinson and TAC Legislative Consultant Pete Winckler were also in attendance. The meeting was well received, with some attendees advocating that the format be repeated for the benefit of county auditors and other officials who were unable to make it to San Angelo.
