The National Association of Counties (NACo) recently announced the winners of its 2023 Achievement Awards. Seven Texas counties were among the counties nationwide recognized in 18 different categories.
The Texas recipients included Bexar, Denton, El Paso, Harris, Tarrant, Travis and Wise counties. Travis County received a Best in Category award in financial management for implementing a continuous auditing program that allowed it to reduce the number of hours it took to audit property tax refunds by as much as 91%.
This year's award-winning programs "represent some of the most innovative and collaborative efforts we have seen in over 50 years of presenting these awards," NACo President Denise Winfrey said in a tweet announcing the awards.
