With the 88th Legislature about to enter the final weekend of its regular session, Tuesday marked the end of this year's weekly legislative breakfast meetings. As they have early each Tuesday morning since Jan. 10, county officials and members of the Texas Association of Counties' Legislative Services team gathered at the TAC building in Austin and online to discuss the latest developments at the Capitol important to Texas counties.

The session doesn't officially enter the history books until Monday, but counties have already begun to absorb what has been wrought. And TAC has already begun work on our 2023 Legislative Analysis Report, which will summarize the significant county-related bills that passed this session. Look for it to arrive this summer.

Meanwhile, we will continue to track all bills that affect county government until the bitter end. Find them here.

And TAC's 2023 Legislative Conference, scheduled from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, will focus on what the Legislature did and didn't do this year and what it means for Texas counties. If you haven't already done so, please sign up today to take advantage of reduced registration rates. You can choose to attend in person or virtually. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you for your participation in our weekly legislative breakfast meetings. Your unwavering commitment to public service is commendable and inspiring, and we sincerely appreciate your valuable contributions.
