With (finally!) cooler temperatures and beautiful colors, October is the perfect time to take a walk or a hike. Walking is the perfect activity for any fitness level, so let’s make it a habit for all year ‘round. You earn one leaf a day based on the number of steps you take each day, and your goal is to earn a total of 30 leaves or more.

How to Complete the Challenge

Participants can earn credit for this six-week challenge by earning 30 total leaves. You can earn one leaf a day by logging 6,000 steps. Log 6,000 steps a day, five days a week for six weeks to collect 30 leaves and complete the challenge. You will NOT be automatically entered into the challenge. Each individual employee must sign up for the challenge during the registration dates to participate in Walktober.

How to Register

  • Log in to your Healthy County account.
  • Click on the "Challenges" tab in the menu at the top of the page to view the Walktober challenge.
  • Click on the red "View" button. A new tab will open with the Walktober registration page.
  • Click “Register” in the top, left corner of the page.
  • Complete the registration form.

Join a Team

During the registration period, participants will be able to join a team. ​Being on a team increases your accountability during the challenge and makes participating more exciting and fun. You do not have to have to join a team to complete the Walktober challenge

How do I get the Walktober Challenge App*?

  • Log in to your Healthy County account.
  • Click on the "Challenges" tab in the menu at the top of the page to view the Walktober challenge.
  • Click on the red "View" button. A new tab will open with the Walktober registration page.
  • Create a mobile password under "Settings" before downloading the app (Settings is accessed via clicking the gear icon displayed in the top, right corner of page and choosing “Settings” in the drop-down menu).
  • Search for “Walktober” in your app store and download the appropriate app for your mobile device.
  • Log into the mobile app using the mobile password you just created.
  • Use the Walktober mobile app to log activity (simultaneously syncs with online account), view recipes and track team progress on the go.
