Trade out mayo Protein-packed hummus can stand in for mayo on sandwiches while equal amounts of nonfat plain Greek yogurt can be used in chicken, egg and tuna salad recipes.
Swap out oil and butter Lighten up baked goods by replacing oil with the same amount of unsweetened applesauce. You can also use applesauce to replace up to half the amount of butter.
Cut back on sugar Use thinly sliced fresh fruit such as pears, strawberries or apples to add sweetness to peanut butter sandwiches in place of sugary jelly.
