Employee development, customer service and leadership expert Dennis Snow will be the keynote speaker at TAC’s 2018 Legislative Conference, set for Aug. 29-31 in Austin. Registration is open, so secure your spot at the lowest cost now.
Snow, who has consulted for industry giants like ExxonMobil, AT&T, General Motors and Coca-Cola, honed his skills and unique perspective on running a world-class, service-driven organization during a more than 20-year career with the Walt Disney World Company.
“County officials know that their constituents have high expectations. They want a high standard of service, and they want good value for their taxes. People want to know their elected officials care and are going to be responsive to their needs. The bottom line is that they expect world-class service. We’re going to talk about an approach to making that happen,” said Snow.
Snow has authored numerous articles on leadership and frequents business news-talk radio shows. He is the author of “Unleashing Excellence: The Complete Guide to Ultimate Customer Service and Lessons from the Mouse: A Guide for Applying Disney World’s Secrets of Success to Your Organization, Your Career, and Your Life.”
His presentation will kick off the conference and provide a “how-to” program for delivering outstanding experiences, and an all-encompassing approach to county operations, making excellence business as usual.
A New Headquarters Hotel
The brand-new Fairmont Hotel will host this year’s conference. The newly-constructed 37-story luxury tower will be TAC’s headquarters hotel for the Legislative Conference for the next five years.
This new conference hub for county government will accommodate the growing Legislative Conference and treat attendees to the hotel’s multitude of amenities, and to picturesque views of Austin’s Lady Bird Lake and dramatic skyline, and of course, the pink dome of the Capitol. The Austin Convention Center connects to the hotel, and is a short walk from the city’s many entertainment and dining districts.
The new location introduces attendees to the Rainey Street entertainment district, a thoroughfare of historic homes renovated into eateries and taverns to satisfy any taste and any size group.
The hotel has made the group rate available for up to three days before and three days after the conference, so attendees can come in early or stay after to enjoy the Capitol city. Austin is known for live music but is also home to a wonderful ballet, world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. County officials can paddle down Lady Bird Lake, stroll through the celebrated Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum or join an Austin City Limits taping at the Moody Theater while they’re here.
Your County. Your Voice. The Truth.
This year, TAC’s Legislative Conference offers county officials and staff a vital look ahead at what many are predicting to be a tense 86th legislative session. The conference provides attendees the opportunity to get informed and get involved in the legislative process.
“This year’s conference is going to be essential for preparing county officials for the 86th legislative session,” said TAC Legislative Director Paul Sugg. “The move to centralize authority in Austin we saw last session was just the beginning. We will need to have county officials from across the state ready, standing united for responsive, responsible local representative government. It’s time to restore what’s right.”
