House Interim Charges Issued
As Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Rep. Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont) has sole authority to task the various standing, interim and select committees with study topics to inform their report to the 88th Legislature. On March 10, Phelan issued interim charges, directing both the standing and two new interim committees to examine specified subjects.
Topics to be examined include feral hog abatement, Texas-Mexico border issues, broadband expansion, temporary license plate fraud and changes to property tax law. These and a long list of other topics will be the subject of upcoming public hearings.
Interim charges are available online, as are details on the interim committees tasked with examination of criminal justice and health care reform.
Interim charges for the Texas Senate are forthcoming.
