Hearing held on guardianships, jury service
The House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence met Oct. 12 to take up its interim charges regarding guardianships and jury service.
The committee heard testimony on guardianships’ effect on individual rights and the financial commitments families undertake in obtaining and maintaining a guardianship.
Megan LaVoie, administrative director of the Office of Court Administration, explained existing jury exemptions and offered recommendations to improve the jury summons questionnaire, address the poor response rate by the public and preserve and promote the duty of jury service.
