Comptroller's Office Accepting Grant Applications for Broadband Infrastructure Projects
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Monday that the Broadband Development Office is now accepting grant applications for broadband infrastructure projects as part of the Bringing Online Opportunities to Texas (BOOT) Program.
The federal Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund allocated $363.8 million to Texas for critical infrastructure projects related to expanding access to high-speed internet. The Broadband Development Office, housed within the Comptroller's office, will distribute these funds through a multi-round competitive grant process, Hegar said in a press release. Monday’s announcement is for the first round of funds, totaling $120 million.
Counties are eligible to participate in the program and submit a proposed project for funding. Applications must be submitted using the BDO Application System by May 5.
