County election officials and their staff members met in San Antonio last week for their mid-winter conference. More than 150 were in attendance and heard from their colleagues who shared best practices in conducting elections.

Staff members from the Election Division of the Secretary of State's office provided information on preparing for an election audit, as required by Senate Bill 1, Sen. Bryan Hughes' (R-Mineola) omnibus election legislation passed in one of 2021's three special sessions. Attendees received training on cybersecurity, discussed the upcoming legislative session and working with legislators, and updates on certain election bills filed.
