HB 513 by Rep. Metcalf – Increases the criminal penalty for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance causing death or serious bodily injury to a child. Creates a new criminal offense for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance causing death or serious bodily injury.

HB 678 by Rep. Bell – Authorizes the Attorney General to appoint a special prosecutor to prosecute certain election offenses that are committed in an adjacent county.

HB 2527 by Rep. Dutton – Requires prosecutors to disclose discovery of credible information with probable cause to believe that a convicted defendant did not commit the offense for which the defendant was convicted.

HB 2543 by Rep. Raymond – Creates a conviction integrity unit within the Office of the Attorney General.

HB 2662 by Rep. Ashby – Updates state broadband provisions to align with federal guidelines on the distribution of federal broadband funding.

HB 2697 by Rep. Guillen – Requires the Broadband Development Office to develop best practices for broadband development and directs the Broadband Development Office to stipulate the manner in which award recipients must comply with those best practices.

HB 2734 by Rep. Murr – Grants "cross-credit" service to a prosecutor or judge who subsequently serves in the other position. Currently, these elected officials lose their seniority service credit.

HB 2859 by Rep. Ashby/SB 1243 by Sen. Huffman – Requires all taxable entities to exclude from total revenue, for franchise tax calculation, qualifying broadband grant proceeds for the purposes of broadband deployment in the state.

SB 272 by Sen. Blanco – Expands the Governor’s Broadband Development Council to include a representative from a federally recognized Indian tribe that has tribal land in the state.

SB 377 and SJR 27 by Sen. Perry – Creates the Texas Connectivity Fund for the development of broadband and other telecommunications services in all areas of the state. Authorizes an appropriation to the fund consisting of a portion of revenue received from existing state sales and use taxes on telecommunications services while not increasing the rate of these sales and use taxes.

SB 1045 by Sen. Huffman/HB 3166 by Rep. Murr – Creates a statewide intermediate appellate court for certain cases.

SB 1092 by Sen. Parker – Grants the Supreme Court of Texas the authority to overrule a ruling of the Court of Criminal Appeals that declares a state statute unconstitutional.

SB 1105 and SJR 60 by Sen. Birdwell – Authorizes the Governor to suspend, and the state Senate to remove, elected officials who neglect to or publicly declare they will not enforce the law.

SB 1195 by Sen. Hughes – Grants the Attorney General original prosecution authority to prosecute certain criminal cases.

SB 1196 by Sen. Hughes/HB 2930 by Rep. Spiller – Grants the Supreme Court of Texas the authority to overrule a ruling of the Court of Criminal Appeals that declares a state statute unconstitutional.

SB 1208 by Sen. Blanco – Authorizes certain rural counties and municipalities in those counties to expend revenue from the local hotel occupancy tax on broadband infrastructure.

SB 1238 by Sen. Nichols – Updates state broadband provisions to align with federal guidelines on the distribution of federal broadband funding.

SB 1318 by Sen. Huffman – Amends procedure for a magistrate to set reasonable bail bonds. Allows the public safety report system to be used to set bonds on arrest warrants. Clarifies the procedures for notification to the court of a prior felony bond. Prohibits appointed magistrates from setting bond in certain cases. Expands the list of criminal offenses not eligible for personal bonds. Creates a criminal offense if the person knowingly violates a condition of bond.

HJR 110 by Rep. Isaac – Proposes a constitutional amendment to grant the Attorney General concurrent jurisdiction with each county or district attorney to prosecute a violation of election law.

SJR 44 by Sen. Huffman – Proposes a constitutional amendment to grant a judge or magistrate the authority to deny bail under certain circumstances to a person accused of a violent or sexual offense, or of continuous trafficking of persons.
