    Legal Guidance

"Does the salary grievance committee have to provide notice before getting together for a meeting? Is the committee subject to the Open Meetings Act?"

Is a salary grievance committee subject to the Open Meetings Act?

Yes, the committee has rule-making or quasi-judicial authority and therefore is a governmental body under the Open Meetings Act. Action taken at a meeting that is not properly noticed is voidable. Tex. Att’y Gen. Op. No. JH-1281 (1978).
