The Texas Association of Counties is inviting counties to share their innovative solutions to common local government challenges through the 2026 County Best Practices Awards program.

The biennial program recognizes county initiatives that have improved services, increased efficiency or introduced creative approaches that other counties can adapt. Nominations are now open across five categories: financial and general management, public safety and corrections, health and human services, technology, and community improvements.

“Counties are built to serve, and this program reflects that mission,” TAC Executive Director Susan M. Redford said. “It celebrates innovation. It celebrates success. And it celebrates counties being good stewards of taxpayer dollars while solving real problems.”

Counties can learn more about the awards program and download a nomination form at www.county.org/bestpractices.

The awards are also the focus of the latest episode of TAC’s Texas County Voice podcast. In the episode, TAC County Relations Officers Rhita Koches and Jay Mayden discuss how the program works, why it matters and how one county’s idea can benefit all 254 counties in Texas.
