Military personnel on computer “Our treasurer resigned unexpectedly. Since we have an election date coming up in November, is there any way we can put the office on that ballot to fill the unexpired term?”

Q: Can the county place a vacant office on the general election ballot in an odd-numbered year?

No. Elections to fill vacancies in county positions are never held in odd-numbered years. The commissioners court or county judge, as appropriate to the vacancy, may fill the office by appointment until the date of the next general election for state and county officers which will occur in November of an even-numbered year.
