Body-Worn Camera Grant Program, FY2027
The Body-Worn Camera Grant Program (FY2027), managed by the Texas Office of the Governor's Public Safety Office, provides an estimated $10 million to law enforcement agencies to equip peace officers with body-worn cameras and related digital storage systems. Eligible applicants, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, municipalities, and counties, must implement a body-worn camera policy that complies with Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1701.655 and ensure that all personnel using or handling the data receive specific training. Unlike the equipment-only focus of the Active Attack grant, this program requires a 25% cash match from the applicant and allows for costs associated with video storage, retrieval, and cloud-based subscriptions within the 12-month performance period.
