Bullet-Resistant Components for Law Enforcement Vehicles, FY 2026
State funds for these projects come from H.B. 2217 §772.013 and are appropriated under H.B. 500 §1.34 for Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor. The Public Safety Office expects to award $5 million for FY2026, contingent on available federal funds and any legal requirements. Eligible applicants include state agencies, local governments, and educational institutions with law enforcement agencies employing peace officers under Texas law—such as cities, counties, ISDs, universities, tribes, and community colleges. Local law enforcement must apply through their governing unit with an authorizing resolution (e.g., police through municipalities, DAs through counties).
