Peace Officer Mental Health Program (FY2027)
The Peace Officer Mental Health Program (FY2027), administered by the Texas Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office (PSO), provides an estimated $15 million to support the mental health and well-being of Texas peace officers. Eligible applicants—including units of local government and the Texas Department of Public Safety—can utilize funds for two primary purposes: the establishment or enhancement of Peer Support Groups (including training for peer supporters) and the implementation of Mental Health Services (such as counseling, suicide prevention, and crisis intervention). To ensure officer privacy, any program receiving funds must establish a policy that protects the confidentiality of communications between an officer and a peer support counselor or mental health professional.
