The Pipeline Emergency Response Grant (PERG)

The Pipeline Emergency Response Grant (PERG) program provides federal funding to state, county, and municipal governments to facilitate specialized incident response training. Administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), the initiative focuses specifically on training personnel with statutory responsibility to respond to emergencies involving the transportation of natural gas or hazardous liquids by pipeline within high-consequence areas. By equipping local emergency responders with advanced technical competencies, the program aims to mitigate environmental and public safety risks associated with pipeline disruptions.
