Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Grant Program (FY2027)

The Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Grant Program (FY2027), administered by the Texas Office of the Governor's Public Safety Office (PSO), seeks to reduce violent crime and foster safer communities through strategic partnerships between law enforcement and community stakeholders. Eligible applicants—including local governments, non-profits, and educational institutions—must address one of four core PSN design features: community engagement, focused and strategic enforcement, prevention and intervention, or accountability. Funds can be used for personnel salaries, overtime, travel, and specialized equipment to disrupt criminal gangs and combat the illegal use of firearms. Notably, the program requires that 30 percent of the total funding be allocated specifically to support gang task forces in regions experiencing high levels of violent crime or transnational criminal activity.
