Testing of Forensic Evidence Grant Program (FY2027)
The Testing of Forensic Evidence Grant Program (FY2027), administered by the Texas Office of the Governor's Public Safety Office (PSO), provides approximately $2 million to support the forensic analysis of physical evidence and the use of forensic genetic genealogical DNA analysis. The program is divided into two main categories: one specifically for District Attorney offices to cover costs related to analyzing physical evidence, and another for local law enforcement, medical examiners, and coroners for genetic genealogical DNA analysis. Funds can be used for the outsourcing of forensic analysis to accredited labs, expedited testing, and analysis for items exceeding standard state acceptance policies.
