TAC Legislative Conference Is Next Week
Next week, county officials and staff from all over Texas will come together for the Texas Association of Counties’ 2025 Legislative Conference. Whether they’re joining TAC in Austin on tuning in virtually, participants will be part of a crowd of about 1,000 attendees ready to explore key takeaways from the 89th Texas Legislature.
Over three days from Aug. 27-29, the conference will break down what new laws mean for counties and local taxpayers, hear updates from county leaders, state legislators and policymakers, and exchange ideas on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Kicking Things Off
The conference opens with a keynote address by Kent R. Hance, former U.S. representative, past Texas Tech chancellor and host of “The Best Storyteller in Texas” podcast. Hance’s signature blend of humor and insight will set the stage for a packed agenda.
What’s on the Agenda
From land use and indigent defense to election security and emergency management, the conference will cover major topics that matter most to counties. It will conclude with a look at county leadership along the Texas-Mexico border.
